Child Labour and Responses in South Asia

It is estimated that there are 21.6 million children aged 5-14 working in South Asia out of a total of 300 million children in this age group (see table below for detail).

There is a great deal of commonality in the forms of Child Labour in South Asia, most notably in the areas of:
- Domestic child labour
- Children working in hazardous industries
- Children working in export industries
- Child trafficking (both internally and across borders)
- Bonded child labour in agriculture and certain parts of the industrial sector
These are briefly being elaborated on below.
