  • On the following pages the menu stays on the left (see example)
  • .
  • When it is possible to apply this type of menu on the Home page?
    • For highlighting and providing a shortcut to some of the sub-sections in the site. This Template is typically used for web site complex and deep at the level of the content structure (Site index with many sections and/or sub-sections) - see example 1 and example 2. The benefit of this approach over using the left-hand menu and quick links on the right is that it displays the quick links in context. The left-hand menu with quick links on the right does not provide indications on where in the site structure those quick links reside. The right-hand menu establishes context and helps users form the mental model of the site.
    • .
    • For highlighting and providing a shortcut to ALL the sub-sections in the site. This Template is typically used for web site which menu contains more than 10 items (sections and sub-sections). Because it is not possible for the main navigation menu on the left to appear opened showing all the sub-sections, then it is moved on the right on the home page. - see example
      • In case the menu contains up to 10 items, then it can be always opened on all the web site pages, Home page included, but on the left side of the page only (never on the right) - see example
